TAKING A DIVE ... WHERE ANGELS FEAR
TO TREAD!!!

Wayward Angel Kathy Lee, is taking a dive into the deep unknown...she has thrown in the 'teaching' towel to explort opportunities in the Country Music Industry. Kathy is a country singer/songwriter; is classically trained in piano; is a rhythm guitarist; has a Bachelor of Education (Commerce/Economics); and is a primary school music specialist...who has just released a self-titled EP - KATHY LEE - WAYWARD ANGEL

In October 1998, Kathy released an 'acoustic' CD with friend, Veronica Keutmann. Shortly after, the girls supported Kernaghan at the Pass the Hat Around Concerts at Charleville and Yaraka, and the release of Kernaghan's Christmas Album in Toowoomba. In March 1999, the girls supported KERNAGHAN again on a Northern NSW Tour. Due to other commitments, Veronica left the dynamic duo shortly after. However, Kathy has continued on the successful Wayward Angels path.

KATHY LEE - WAYWARD ANGEL (produced by Nash Chambers) is receiving widespread airplay from the CM industry due to the distinctive nature of the 'Wayward Angel' music.

Kathy blends contemporary, folk and country music to create her own unique style of country. The EP has some of Australia's finest country musicians on it (Chris Haig, Michael Rose, Jeff McCormick Mick Albeck and B J Baker). Kathy's singing and songwriting abilities are highlighted on this EP with three original tracks. 'Strong Hearted Man'; 'Where I Learned To Love'; & 'Hearts Were Made For Breaking'.

Kathy grew up on the Downs and spent many years performing with the Dalby Country Music Club. Until this year, her main focus has been teaching. Kathy is now in the 'learning' seat herself...competition in CM is fierce. However, Kathy has a unique style which will set her ahead of the competition.

During the 2000 Tamworth Festival, Kathy will perform at the Songwriters Showcase at the Oasis (24th Jan), and various other venues. Kathy Lee - a name to watch out for!

DECEMBER 1999

From Music Critic Burt Everett

They say that diversity is the key to a fuller life! Who said that? I did, so don't go looking for it in a book of quotable quotes.
Seriously now; Diversification must surely be the key word in Kathy Lee's vocabulary. Up until just recently Toowoomba's Kathy Lee was living her life as a fully qualified teacher of commerce, economics, and music. But at age 29 she has decided to "follow her star" into the world of country music. To quote the lady herself, "You never, never know, if you never, never go !", and go she did , from the classroom and the text books, to the stage, and the guitars. Up to date, her relatively short career has certainly had it's share of "ups", with guest spots at the Bay of Islands (NZ) Festival, and Queensland's Music Expo, as well as being support act for Lee Kernigahan on his Northern NSW tour, his Christmas album launched at Toowoomba, and his Pass the Hat Around" concerts at Charleville and Yaraka, and a host of other achievements.
She has now put the cream on the cake, with the release of her first three track CD single. Strong Hearted Man", and, "Hearts Were Made For Breaking" are her own compositions, 'Where I Learned To Love', are from the pen of Lee/Keutmann.. All top tracks, and I think it may be quite some time before Kathy heads back to her classroom
